Volunteer Ambassador

Community Idea Stations Volunteer Roles: Community Ambassador

Community Ambassadors act as an enthusiastic representative of the Community Idea Stations at public events held in our 23 Sesame Street Studios as well as out in the community.


  • Promote the Community Idea Stations at events in our studios and out in the community
  • Answer questions about membership, events, programming, studio tours and other CIS offerings
  • Assist children and families with educational activities at events, when necessary
  • Assist with planning and executing events, as needed
  • Possibility to lead and guide other volunteers during events


  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for public media (TV and/or Radio)
  • Access to reliable transportation to CIS events and local community events
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and to lift 20 pounds
  • Valid email address to facilitate updates/communication

This Volunteer Role Is Ideal For:

  • High School students interested in pursuing a career in TV or Radio; The Arts; STEM
  • College students pursuing studies in TV or Radio; The Arts; STEM
  • Retired or current educators, artists, public media employees
  • Anyone enthusiastic about helping us expand our reach into the community

Time Commitment:

  • Commit to volunteering at least 4 times within a year; Community Ambassador Leaders commit to a minimum of 6 times a year
  • Participate in mandatory training and orientation program
  • Attend update meetings, as needed
