Life is Like a Box of...

As the now infamous line from the film “Forrest Gump,” goes: “..life was like a box of chocolates, you never now what you’re going to get.” Well, on this week’s World Music Show (11/11), we could use that well worn adage to convey that we may not now what we’re going to hear.

Protest Songs From Around The World

Like peanut butter & jelly, the themes for this week’s World Music Show (10/21) go together rather well. Ok, the themes of “New Music” and “Protest Songs,” is nothing like one of my favorite sandwich combinations. It was a long shot at best, but that shouldn’t deter you from checking out this week’s stellar line-up.

For the newness, we’ll be checking out a handful of never-before-heard bands (on this show at least), to some new tracks from some of the new bands that we’ve been featuring lately.

Heavy Metal Cumbia?

I love open-ended questions for leads. As in, what do you get when you cross Heavy Metal with Cumbia music? Glad you asked, because on this week’s World Music Show (10/14) you’ll get the answer.

And that answer will come from my interview with the leader of the Oakland, Ca based band called La Misa Negra (who’s name is a reference to a Heavy Metal group—to find out which one, you’ll have to tune in).
