Ready To Learn is out and about, in your community, on a regular basis. We work to share PBS KIDS resources with children and families to engage them with fun and educational activities. Our events allow us to connect children more deeply to the PBS KIDS characters they know and trust, in order to more effectively educate them through our PBS KIDS programming and online resources. We love serving families in our RVA, Charlottesville, and Harrisonburg markets.
Coming Up In October
Join us as we read to children, gift them a book to take home with them and engage them in fun and educational activities. Free for museum members; cost of entrance for non-members.
Join us as we take part in the 30th Anniversary of the 2nd Street Festival in historic Jackson Ward. Enjoy great music and food, and be sure to visit us in the Kid Zone. We will share PBS KIDS resources and engage your PBS KID in a hands-on activity.
Ready To Learn invites you to join us at the Richmond Raceway for the Annual Touch-A-Truck event. Come see the PBS KIDS Ready To Learn van, and explore our Mobile Production Unit Truck that allows us to broadcast television remotely. You’ll also get a sneak peek at our newest PBS KIDS series, LETS’ GO LUNA!, and enjoy hands-on activities.
Park after Dark is an annual family-oriented fun event held at night. This year’s activities will include hay rides, face painting, raptor and reptile presentations, trunk-or-treating, a campfire with s’mores, night hikes, and much more. Ready To Learn will be there with fun hands-on activities for your ghouls and goblins!
Come explore the world with PBS KIDS’ newest series, LET’S GO LUNA! Ready To Learn is excited to introduce you to Luna and her friends at this special screening at the Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg that will allow you to watch the first episode before it comes to television. Cubby the WVPT Bear will be there to greet guests as they arrive.
Visit us at the WVPT/WHTJ PBS table at the Charlottesville City Market on Saturday, October 1, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. Pick up PBS KIDS resources and a fun takeaway!
Join us at the Richmond Symphony Lollipops, for a day of music and fun. Visit our table, in the Rhythm Hall, at 10 a.m., before the show starts at 11 am. We will be sharing PBS KIDS resources and allowing kids to try out our percussion instruments. Your PBS KID is encouraged to come in their favorite costume!
