Community Idea Stations Volunteer Roles: Ready To Learn Literacy Ambassador

Ready To Learn Literacy Ambassadors act as an enthusiastic representative of the Community Idea Stations at our Ready To Learn Reading and Book Distribution Events. They read to children in schools that serve low-income populations and gift them books to take home, greatly increasing their chances of success in school and beyond.

  • Read and gift books to children to better their chances of success in school
  • Ensure the children feel valued and important


  • Must enjoy being around children and embrace diversity
  • Passion for childhood literacy a plus
  • Pleasant and encouraging demeanor
  • Experience in early childhood education is a plus
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Valid email address to facilitate updates/communication

This Volunteer Role Is Ideal For:

  • College Students studying Early Childhood Education or Library Science
  • Current Educators or Librarians
  • Retired Educators or Librarians
  • Anyone enthusiastic about children and wishing to help us reach them in a fun and educational manner

Time Commitment:

  • Commit to volunteering at least 4 times within a year
  • Participate in mandatory training and orientation program
  • Attend update meetings, as needed
