Now that the Commonwealth has expanded Medicaid in its budget, the clock is ticking to put the program in place.
On the steps of the Capitol Thursday (6/7/18), Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association CEO Sean Connaughton said there are now between four and six months for state officials to revamp the current Medicaid system and start taking on new enrollees. “So it’s a lot of work that's going to be happening. We're getting together internally and how much that will cost us collective as well.”
Connaughton says hospital and healthcare association members have already started meeting with state officials to talk about the mechanics of expansion and outreach to new enrollee populations. “We’re prepared to join in a partnership with the state and other groups to get as much information out to potential enrollees as possible.”
Governor Ralph Northam said Thursday his administration will submit the necessary requests to the Trump administration within a few days.
