Richmond Public Schools held their annual State of the Schools address last night (Tuesday night). Superintendent Jason Kamras presented priorities to improve the city’s schools.
Dream 4 RPS is the district’s five year strategic plan to address a number of issues plaguing Richmond’s schools. “Here are just two very brutal facts: Less than half our schools are accredited, and we have the lowest graduation rate in Virginia.”
That’s Superintendent Jason Kamras. What he says will help are things like more community engagement, staff training and increased trauma informed services.
“It’s going to take time, but we are on our way.” Kamras said.
A fully-implemented plan will cost $150 million over the next five years.
