The National Weather service is predicting the possibility of severe thunderstorms from late this afternoon into the evening.
Jeff Orrock, Meteorologist in Charge of the National Weather Service in Wakefield said, “Because it has been so hot today and there is a weak cold front that’s going to be moving across the area, the conditions are going to combine together to produce what looks to be some strong, even severe thunderstorms.”
He says the greatest threat is along and North of I-64
“Be on the lookout for some strong, gusty winds, frequent lightning, very heavy torrential rains that may last for a little while. And again, that really is late this afternoon, especially through the rush hour and early evening.”
Forecasts can change, but he says the potential is definitely there on this hot July Day.
