A Richmond County Circuit Court Judge yesterday (10/15) denied a motion to delay Dominion Virginia Power’s plan to start construction of steel towers to carry a new power cable across the Rapphannock River. The old cable is attached to the Norris Bridge.
He ruled “all of this case has to do primarily with an invalid objection” to the construction.
Opponents of the towers say they will be an eyesore. They called on Dominion to run the cable under the river.
It was also suggested that the towers would impact the replacement of the aging Norris Bridge, and concerns were expressed about oyster beds in the area.
Tower construction could begin tomorrow.
