Interfaith Gathering Shows Support for Muslims, Understanding, Peace

More than 90 members of major religious groups in Richmond gathered yesterday (12/17) to express solidarity with Muslims in the midst of troubling headlines and mistrust. There were Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh religious leaders at yesterday’s news conference at the Islamic Center of Virginia, sponsored by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.

They talked about unity and good will in the face of attacks and violence around the world by sympathizers of the Islamic State.

Imam Ammar Amonette said hatred directed toward any individual or group is a danger to us all, and said he and his followers have always felt welcomed by their neighbors in Bon air, who recently posted a yard sign and rallied outside the Center last week to show their support.
