Henrico Board To Consider First Major Mixed Use Request in its Version of Scott’s Addition

The Henrico County Board of Supervisors has set a public hearing tonight on the first major development project in the Westwood area just across the city line from Scott’s Addition. Kinsale Capital Group wants to begin what Henrico sees as a major urban redevelopment. “This would be the first development underway requesting a mixed use development in our Westwood area.” Jean Moore is Assistant Director of Planning, “So this is the first time to have introduced about five, six acres of a headquarters office building, five-story office building and then future development for apartments.” The planning commission has recommended approval, tonight the Board has scheduled a public hearing. “We think this is the start of a way of rethinking how we redevelop our older more urban industrial areas in a place that still embraces industry but also bring then new housing in a vibrance to the area.”
