Chesterfield County responded to the mass shootings in Virginia Beach by sending first responders and by offering mental health services. In addition, the county is also reviewing their safety protocols.
Gov. Ralph Northam announced that he’ll convene a special session of the General Assembly to consider new gun control bills later this month, a plan a top Republican called “hasty and suspect” given Northam's recent political troubles.
Under current state law, guns are not allowed in state office buildings and courtrooms but are allowed in the General Assembly, State Capitol and municipal buildings with a concealed carry permit.
