Breakfast Classics presents two hours of your favorite classical masterpieces, interspersed with works you may not be as familiar with. The show also features interviews with local and international artists, along with selections from new classical releases. It’s a great way to start your weekend mornings!
Pianist Xiayin Wang performs a variety of repertoire and she recently released a new album of solo piano works by Enrique Granados on the Chandos label. The album centers around Granados’s towering Goyescas, a set based on the paintings of Francisco Goya.
The Ariel Quartet was formed in Israel nearly twenty years ago when its members were middle-school students. They were recently awarded the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award and serve as the Faculty Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music.
The Miró Quartet was established in 1995 and some of the first works they performed for competitions were the Beethoven quartets. They now have a long history with the Beethoven cycle and plan to release them all to celebrate their 25th anniversary season and Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020.
The Virginia Arts Festival and Virginia Symphony Orchestra are joining the worldwide celebration honoring the life and legacy of legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. Performances highlighting Bernstein's music will be held in Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach during this year's festival.
