Congratulations to the Virginia Currents February Photo Contest Winners!

Contest Theme: It Takes a Village

To celebrate Virginia Currents 25 years of storytelling, the Community Idea Stations is holding a photo contest from October to April so viewers can share their story! Here are the winners of the February Photo Contest. Keep reading to see how you can enter the March contest for a chance to have your photo featured on WCVE PBS and WHTJ PBS. Grand prize winners will receive a GoPro camera.

Carolyn FitzPatrick won the "Popular Vote" with 331 votes.

"Farming takes a Village, including different bugs pollinating flowers. In return the flowers give us veggies and beauty. Can you find the 5 bugs? Caroline County photo."

Nancy Fetty won the "Artist's Pick."

"One single fish compares to the first brush stroke on a canvas, but it takes a community of fish to become the final masterpiece."

March's theme is "Natural Beauty" with Harold Lanna, the Camera Club of Richmond President, as the featured artist. Here is a sample of his work reflecting this month's theme.

"Natural Beauty can be defined as people, flora, fauna and places that have a combination of qualities that provide aesthetic pleasure to our senses. There is sometimes a visual sense of harmony with the form and color of something that was unaltered by human intervention. It can be the splendor of the Grand Canyon, the majesty of an African lion, the mesmerizing flow of a waterfall or a handsome man or beautiful woman. It can be simple or complex. Natural Beauty is a personal perception and can be interpreted in many ways."

Submit your photo for the March Virginia Currents Photo Contest for a chance to have your photo featured on WCVE PBS and WHTJ PBS.
