Charlottesville Inside-Out Celebrates Season 10

Over the past nine years, our crew has been honored to feature close to 500 guests and cover more than 200 topics highlighting the people and places that make Charlottesville and the surrounding area such a special place to live and to explore.

We have interviewed artists, educators, musicians and filmmakers. We’ve connected our viewers to scientific, technological, historical, and environmental information. We’ve featured local farms, local foods, and favorite local eateries. We’ve been roller skating, ice skating, hot air ballooning and horseback riding. And we’ve been able to shine a light on the essential work of numerous nonprofit organizations in our community.

And now, we are thrilled to kick off our 10th season of filming with topics ranging from music – the Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia and the Front Porch Roots Music School – to education – the Rivanna Master Naturalists, the City Schoolyard Garden, the Darden Prisoner Re-entry Education Program and the CHS science and robotics team “BACON” (Best All-Around Club of Nerds).

We will feature our beloved historic Downtown Mall as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, and explore the sport of curling and the art of woodturning. We’ll learn about an equine rescue that gives horses a second chance at life and being loved, and visit a wildlife sanctuary that cares for young orphaned animals. We’ll catch up with a National Geographic filmmaker, producer and director to talk about his work with African Elephants. And we will continue to highlight the work of charitable groups in our community.

Watch Charlottesville Inside-Out each Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (with an encore on Sundays at 12:30 p.m.) on WHTJ PBS / WCVE PBS.

We are very proud to hear regularly from viewers (watching via television and online) that CVIO has become a go-to resource for getting to know the area and all that it has to offer to residents and visitors alike. We also know we would never have reached this important anniversary year without the support of our community. If you are interested in helping us as we continue to celebrate this unique and wonderful place called Charlottesville, please contact: Mary Ellen Garrigue at (804) 560-8260 or megarrigue@ideastations.org.
