Community Idea Stations Volunteer Roles: Event Support

The Community Idea Stations welcome the public to our 23 Sesame Street Studios for events year-round. We have several outreach programs and events that extend our reach into the community as well. Our volunteers may help with events such as the Richmond Folk Festival, a PBS television premiere event or various children and family events we host or participate in.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with children’s activities
  • Check in guests at a registration table/thank them at the end of the event
  • Setting up and breaking down events (tables, chairs, décor, etc.)
  • Helping with general event flow
  • Taking photos of guests, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • High comfort level working with children (for our events catering to families and children)
  • Professional appearance
  • Friendly and easy going personality
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Access to reliable transportation to CIS events and local community events
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and to lift 20 pounds
  • Valid email address to facilitate updates/communication

Time Commitment:

  • No ongoing commitment; varies for each project
  • A typical shift can be 2-3 hours
