Virginia Home Grown: April 2011 Show

In our April show, we learn how volunteer tree stewards help manage city trees in Richmond. Then we take a look at the “Virginia Grown” marketing program and how it helps both growers and consumers.
After each segment, we will return to the studio for the live portion of the show to visit with our guests. We will also open up the phone lines and accept email to give you an opportunity to ask the experts your gardening questions. Just call 866.220.0911 (toll-free) during the Live call-in segments or you can email your question to vhg@ideastations.org. If we don't get to your question during the show, you can also write to: Richard Nunnally, P. O. Box 3690, Chester, VA 23831.
Join Richard and Amy Aril 26th at 8:00 PM on WCVE PBS and WHTJ PBS or tune-in Saturday, April 30th at 5:00 PM on WCVW PBS.

Where do you find the fertilizer that Richard spoke of on this (August 30) tuesday show? What were the chemical numbers again? Thanks...sn
The product you saw on the air was a SCOTTS fertilizer, so most anywhere that sells their products should have it. There are new state regulations that go into effect next year which further limit the amouint of phosphorus that can be used on residential lawns. Phosphorus is one of the major threats to water quality. Low or no phosphorus fertilizers should become even easier to find in the future.
Hello, would you please send me a schedule for your up coming shows.
Thank You,
Pat Pea

Is there any way to kill bamboo? We have a grove, with inch-thick rhizomes running twenty feet or more across the yard.
Here is a great source on controlling bamboo runners: Controlling Bamboo – provides a 4 step process on removing bamboo. Hope this helps.
