WCVW PBS Increases Kids Programming; Upgrades Charlie Rose Timeslot

Shows like Super Why!, Word World, Curious George and Sid the Science Kid increase the odds that all children in our community succeed in school and in life. That’s one of the reasons as to why WCVW PBS is increasing its PBS KIDS line up.

Over the course of 30 years, 4,531 episodes and 23,000 guests, he became a fixture of national life and a part of the zeitgeist. In a 2007 TV Land/Entertainment Weekly poll, Americans voted Carson the greatest icon in the history of television.

On April 2, 1936, when the 22-year-old son of a sharecropper entered the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, he was, he later remembered, barely able to control his anger. “I was angry because of the insults that Hitler and the other German leaders had hurled at me and my Negro teammates on the Olympic squad.” The young athlete would channel his raw emotions into some of the most remarkable achievements in the history of athletics, winning four gold medals.

Flying Squirrels Launch New Production

The Richmond Flying Squirrels recently announced a partnership with the Community Idea Stations and the creation of a new primetime television series titled Flying Squirrels Insider. The thirty-minute bi-weekly show will feature behind-the-scenes coverage of the Flying Squirrels organization. The inaugural episode aired on April 10, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. on WCVW PBS.
