On March 19th, WHTJ PBS (Charlottesville's local Community Idea Station), in collaboration with the Wildlife Center of Virginia, hosted a StoryFest Event! at the Virginia Festival of the Book.  The wildlife program and storytime took place at the Virginia Discovery Museum in Charlottesville's beautiful downtown mall.  Claire Thain, environmental educator from the Wildlife Center of Virginia, introduced the audience to three Virginia "critters":  "Hillary", the opposum, "Cornelius", the corn snake, and "Pignoli", the screech owl.  She engaged the children in a hands-on activity on what to do when finding an injured wild animal and she highlighted the center's job in providing health care and rehabilitation.  The program concluded with storytime using popular children's books with an animal wildlife theme.  Each child received their own copy to take home!
