Sid the Science Kid's Backyard Camp-out
The ideaKIDS Club events have begun! As a lead-in to National Camp-in-Your-Backyard Night, WCVE's Ready To Learn and Science Matters Programs hosted Sid the Science Kid's Backyard Camp-out here at the station on June 21. The evening began with tasty picnic food like ants-on-a-log, twigs (pretzels), bug juice (lemonade) and s'mores. We can't forget the s'mores for a camp-out!!
Activities included crafts, Sid's Backyard Camp-out episode screening, a scavenger hunt, campfire songs, and "spooky" storytelling. Yes, we had fun while learning!! Reading, math, science and social skill lessons are always present...even at a backyard camp-out!
Thank you to all the families who came to make the night so special. One mom sent this email: "I am writing to thank you and all the folks helping out Friday night for hosting such a wonderful event. My children loved it! It was a perfect summer evening event. The kids enjoyed the variety of activities and the cute theme with twigs and bug juice that carried throughout the night. I hope that you will continue to provide the community with similar events."
Our next ideaKIDS Club event will be Curious George's Halloween Boo-fest on October 27. Look for more details as they become available on the Facebook pages or in the ideaKIDS newsletter. We hope to see your family then.
