Get Ready For Fun...Get Ready To Learn!

Clifford

During the month of March, our Ready To Learn Program will be out and about in many locations in Central Virginia. We would love to have your family join the fun. Here are some of the details:

Thursday, March 1, we will be at the Virginia Discovery Museum in Charlottesville at 10:30 a.m. for an engaging story time. An interactive, hands-on activity along with a free children’s book will be given to each child. This activity is appropriate for 3-5 year olds and is free with admission to the museum.

On Saturday, March 3, we will be joining the Richmond Symphony for their LolliPops Series pre-concert festival. Activities begin at the Carpenter Theatre at 10:00 a.m. and include a musical petting zoo, arts and crafts, interactive games and demonstrations related to the morning's concert. The concert which follows will feature Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Each segment of the concert highlights a different instrument--what a fun way to learn about the symphony! For more information, click here.

Help us celebrate Reading Month during March with CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG. He loves to read too. He will be making appearances at the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s Short Pump location on March 9 and 10 and at the Central location on March 11. Join us for story time with everyone’s favorite big, red dog! For directions to the museums, click here. Watch CLIFFORD weekdays on WCVE PBS/WHTJ PBS at 3:30 p.m. and on WCVW at 6:30 p.m. For more broadcast times, click here.

Join us again at the Children’s Museum of Richmond for a day of fun with SID THE SCIENCE KID. He will be at the Short Pump location on March 16 and at the Central location on March 17 and 18. There will be exciting science-themed activities throughout the museum and cool giveaways.  Let’s investigate, compare and contrast, predict, and observe... just like a real scientist!! More information coming soon!

Owls and snakes and possums...oh, my! Get “Wild About Reading” with WHTJ PBS and the Virginia Discovery Museum. On Saturday, March 24, they will play host to some of Virginia’s feathered and furry friends as part of the Virginia Festival of the Book’s StoryFest, an annual event produced by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. The Wildlife Center of Virginia will be on hand to explain our role in wildlife conservation and environmental protection. The enlightening program includes up-close encounters with live, non-releasable wild animals, who have been given a new lease on life thanks to the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Wildlife Center. The first 200 children will receive a free wild-life themed book. Join us at the Virginia Discovery Museum for this fun event. For directions to the museum, click here.  For more wildlife fun, tune in for the WILD KRATTS weekdays on WCVE at 5:30 p.m. and on WCVW at 6:30 a.m. For more broadcast times, click here.
