EdTech has become one of central Virginia’s most valued educational resources for teachers, principals, library media specialists and administrators. It is an annual two-day conference hosted by the WCVE Education staff of your Community Idea Stations and highlights the wealth of technology available to educators from K-12. Everyone is offered an opportunity to network and share ideas on technology application and integration for classroom use in hands-on workshops and sessions.
Who will benefit from the conference? The EdTech Conference provides technology sessions and hands-on workshops that demonstrate the latest and greatest in technology integration. Teachers, administrators, library media specialists, ITRTs, and prospective teachers have the opportunity to network and share ideas on technology applications for classroom use. Additionally, as educators enhance their professional knowledge by attending sessions, they can also receive recertification points.
Why should you attend? Technology opens up many doors for students at all academic levels to do real work as they study a particular subject. Integrating a curriculum with technology involves making technology into a tool to enhance learning in a content area or multidisciplinary setting. The technology should become as integral a part of how the classroom functions as other classroom tools. (From a 1998 study by the SouthEast and Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium.) EdTech promotes these concepts as educators share and learn.
