Unwrapping the Freshness

Ah, can you smell that? That’s right—it’s the freshness of new music that’s going to hit the airwaves on this week’s World Music Show (4/8). If radio or streaming had the power of “smell-o-vision,” then you’d be able to bask in the smell of newly unwrapped CDs. But sadly that app and the ability to smell new digital downloads are not within our grasp yet.

It’s No Joke!

Sure, April First—April Fool’s Day, happens to be one of my favorite days of the year—you can guess that I’m quite the prankster. However, on this week’s World Music Show (4/1), the tracks we’ll hear will be no joke, in terms of world beat sounds that will make you happy to be alive (or, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch). However, because of stern upbringing in a family full of jokesters, you can expect the usual, albeit poorly executed attempts at some humor.

What to Expect When Expecting

More than 11 years ago, my wife and I read a great book called “What to Expect when Expecting,” which if you don’t know is about having a baby. Well, on this week’s World Music Show (2/25), I could stretch or mutilate that title and pirate it for this week’s show, as in “What to Expect in World Music.” I admit, it is a stretch. And, for those who may be looking for hidden clues in this blog, no, my wife and I are not “expecting.”

Out With The Old, In With The...

For the new year I thought I’d start this week’s World Music Show (1/7) off right by playing a bunch of new music. But then I remembered that it’s only been a week into the new year, so there’s nothing new to choose from. However, due to the enormous bounty that was in last year’s crop of new music, I will have some leftover goodness that will seep into this week’s show.

All that, however, will be saved for hour two of the show. Because in hour one, I was able to get a special guest into the studio to talk about a very interesting and rewarding project.
