Community Idea Stations Reduces Workforce due to State Funding Pressures

The Community Idea Stations today announced plans to reduce their workforce by 18% before the end of June.  This action is necessary due to the elimination of funding specific to public broadcasting from the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Budget.  The Community Idea Stations’ share of State funding amounted to just over $700,000 this fiscal year.  Beginning July 1 there are no funds for either Community Service Grants or Education Services Contracts.

Update: Carreras Jewelers Appraisal Event a Success

Carreras Jewelers

The recent appraisal event in support of the Community Idea Stations at Carreras Jewelers was a great success, bringing in over $700 in donations. Many thanks to the talented appraisers at Carreras and to our listeners who took advantage of this wonderful opportunity and supported their favorite station in the process.

Due to its popularity, another appraisal event may be scheduled at Carreras Jewelers in the fall of 2012. For more information, call Carreras Jewelers at 282.7018.
