Calling all robotics enthusiasts! Join us on Saturday, October 6th at the Science Museum of Virginia for an exciting competition and hands-on family fun at VirginiaFIRST's Robot Rumble. The Rumble is Free and open to the public, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.at SMVA, 2500 West Broad Street, Richmond.
This event is an unofficial kickoff of the upcoming FIRST Robotics Competition season, allowing teams to sharpen their skills, and train and recruit new members. More than a dozen high school robotics teams from across the state will gather and reprise "Rebound Rumble," the high tech basketball game that was featured in regional and national competitions earlier this year.
The Rumble is also a golden opportunity for the public to see an engaging program that encourages young people to become involved with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. Kids of all ages will have first-hand experience operating a remote-controlled robot and earn their “Robot Driver’s License.”
The mission of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is “to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”
