Creating a Backyard Farm for Us All

They’ve bought the Farm. Now, imagine being able to take your family to this 30 acre organic farm just outside downtown Richmond. A local company, Backyard Farmer is making this a possibility with their newest endeavor, the Backyard Farm. The plan is to create an all natural production farm and a place for folks of all ages to gather for hands-on workshops, learning experiences, field trips and volunteer opportunities. Learn how you can help in the video below and be sure to check out the new Backyard Farm at a free Open House on Saturday, September 28th.

Backyard Farmer is a network of specialty contractors, artisans and educators who share a common business philosophy of ecological preservation and sustainability. Combining a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience, this unique company provides home and property improvement services to residential, commercial and institutional clients, ranging from landscaping to custom made furniture.

What makes them different is that they also give back to the community by facilitating volunteer projects, providing resources to school and community gardens, and leading over 2000 hours of free educational programming in regional schools over the past 4 years.

Right now, you can help Backyard Farmer continue their mission. Consider giving to their Kickstarter Campaign, Farm For All; a contribution of any size gets you a great reward that will have you growing your own food in no time. Get a year’s worth of veggie seeds for only $50! Check out their Kickstarter Profile and share it with your friends.

You can get a closer look at the Backyard Farm at a free Open House on Saturday, September 28th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.; light food, beverages and live music! Go to their Facebook page for more info and directions or contact info@backyardfarmer.us.

Hope to see you there!
