Quick, name an instrument (besides the guitar) that is played almost entirely throughout the world (except for pretty much all of Asia). Did you guess the accordion? I hope you didn't peek at the headline to get that answer. The accordion is the theme of this week's World Music Show (5/19) becuase every once in awhile, it's good to give some props to a global instrument such as this that is held in such high regard.

Right off the bat, I want to clarify a little something about this week's World Music Show (5/12). It's not all about Mothers or Mothers who are musicians. Oh sure, I'll feature a few artists who happen to be mother's. But the main crux of this week's show is an ode to a mother I'm quite fond of, my wife Mariah, who happens to also be the mother of my two kids, Piper and Emmett.

If I were a carnival barker (do they still have those?), I'd have that uber-huge megaphone out on the streets of Richmond right now. And through that funnel of sound enhancement, I'd be shouting that on this week's World Music Show (5/5), there is something for everyone. From Big Noise Funky Tropicalismo music to garage-rock out of China, the show will be a cacophony of beats. 

On this week's World Music Show (4/28) we put on our detective hats and begin a tireless search for hidden Reggae beats in some classic New Wave/Pop songs. Sure, it's going to be a tough job, but with your help, we'll be able to achieve the ultimate trophy--an interesting show to tell the kids about.
