The World Music Show with Ian Stewart Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. The World Music Show skips around the continents in search of modern (and classic) beats with the hopes of bringing the world closer together. Ian Stewart delves into styles such as Bossa Nova, Reggae, Afro-beat and Japanese pop, and explores regions or countries, such as Brazil, France and Asia to hear the sub-texts offered up from these areas. Accordion Crimes & Other Misdemeanors

So what does the Accordion, Keith Richards and Led Zeppelin have to do with World Music? Well, they’re all part of this week’s World Music Show (10/15/16), in which we’ll investigate crimes against the accordion, or rather we’ll explore this magical instrument as it travels through some of the crevasses of World Music. Come one, come all to the land of new music! That’s right, It’ll be a bevy of new music on this week’s World Music Show (10/8), including new music from Don La Nena, Latin bands Compass and San Lazaro and new, moving songs the Zomba Prison Project.

A Musical Travelogue

On this week’s World Music Show (10/1), we’ll create a travelogue of musical souvenirs, with highlights in alternative Portuguese tunes, as well as some Rock-n-Roll tracks out of Russia. Plus, we’ll hear a melding of African & Brazilian music, as well as some groovy Gypsy songs.
