World Music Show

The World Music Show with Ian Stewart Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. The World Music Show skips around the continents in search of modern (and classic) beats with the hopes of bringing the world closer together. Ian Stewart delves into styles such as Bossa Nova, Reggae, Afro-beat and Japanese pop, and explores regions or countries, such as Brazil, France and Asia to hear the sub-texts offered up from these areas. Plus, the show always showcases local (and American-style) World Music. The motto of The World Music Show is “Don’t Fear Music.” On Twitter @wcveworldmusic.

Stream Live starting at 8:00 p.m.

Hit the Frappe' Button

In one of my early explanations of what the gist of the World Music Show is, I compared it to hitting the frappe' button on a blender. Why frappe? Well, it sounds better than the shred or the simple chop button, right? On this week's World Music Show (7/23), I think the show comes close to mimicking this metaphor. That said, you can guess that it's going to be a mixed up show.

Wake Up!

Look, I don't mean to pummel your senses down with the fact that it's been uber hot here in RVA. But when it gets like this, my mind tends to become rather sleepy. And with that in mind, some of the tracks for this week's World Music Show (7/16) are of a dreamy and sleepy nature.

(Don't) Fear the Music

Ok, let's get that title reference out of the way before it scares anyone off from listening to this week's World Music Show (7/9). It's a play on the title to AMC's "Walking Dead" spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead." Now, how, you may ask, can I associate that show with this week's World Music Show? Well, there's a great tie-in, which I'll get to, right after this brief commercial break.
