Invasion of the Strings

We owe a lot to the guitar or two the stringed instrument. Just think of all the sounds we'd miss if there wasn't a guitar or other stringed instrument lurking in the background or taking center stage. On this week's World Music Show (7/26), we'll celebrate these sounds with a few choice choices of strings.

Listen Up, You!

Once in a while, all the cylinders are firing at the same time. Or if you prefer, the stars align and everything seems in sync. Or to spout off--as well as butcher another cliché, all my ducks are in a row. Anyway you slice up these battered and misused clichés, the point is that on this week's World Music Show (7/19), the two hours seem to gel just right.

Where are the Festivities?

In retail, they call this the "Dog Days of Summer." Translation: there's not much going on. Now, could we transfer this metaphor over to the World Music genre? Or at least to certian programming on a certain public radio station? Answer: not by a long shot. Becuase while in the outside world there's heat, humidity, bugs, and possible general malaise (unless you're on vacation or about to go on vacation), here in radio land, we can travel to whereever the mood strikes us--which is exactly what we'll do on this week's World Music Show (7/12). Let the festivities begin!
