World Music Show

The World Music Show with Ian Stewart Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. The World Music Show skips around the continents in search of modern (and classic) beats with the hopes of bringing the world closer together. Ian Stewart delves into styles such as Bossa Nova, Reggae, Afro-beat and Japanese pop, and explores regions or countries, such as Brazil, France and Asia to hear the sub-texts offered up from these areas. Plus, the show always showcases local (and American-style) World Music. The motto of The World Music Show is “Don’t Fear Music.” On Twitter @wcveworldmusic.

Stream Live starting at 8:00 p.m.

More Newness & Goodness

Coming up on this week’s World Music Show (2/1), we’ll dig our way thru more new music from Piers Faccini’s new CD called I Dreamed an Island, which he wrote in real time. Plus, we’ll hear more newness and goodness from the bands Compass and Nouvelle Vague. And if that weren’t enough, we’ll also hear a Spanish cover band whose speciality is Morrissey.

Fresh is Best

Ahhh. Do you smell that? It’s the smell of freshness…of newness. That’s right, there’s more new music to look forward to on this week’s World Music Show (2/11). Some of this music is brand-spanking new—as in the seal has just been broken on the CD plastic, while other tidbits of newness hasn’t even begun to reach the shelf expiration date.

Feelings

Feelings—no, not that schmaltzy 70s ballad of blandness (ok, I’m sure “it” had its place in the musical lexicon, and if I were to go into my personal history of this song, then you may understand my dig at it), but I’m talking about all those things bubbling and gurgling up inside of all of us. We’ve all got them. And what I want to do for this week’s World Music Show (2/4) is to get rid of them. That’s right, stuff them on down to their deepest depths. Why? Well, with them out of the way, you’ll be able to enjoy this week’s show.
