Time For The Blues

Time For The Blues

Time for the Blues is a retrospective of all blues music and is produced and hosted by John Porter and Henry Cook. The program focuses on specific artists and various themes in the blues, especially featuring major contributors such as: Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Charlie Musselwhite and John Lee Hooker, among many others.

While all time periods are represented, most of the music presented is what we call “post-war” blues (post WWII through the present). Regional blues are also featured, from the Mississippi Delta, Chicago, the West Coast, Memphis, Texas, the Piedmont, as well as British and other blues influences from around the world.

Listen Saturdays at 11:00 p.m.

Time for the Christmas Blues!

We hope you’ll stay up late with us this Saturday (12/20/14) at 11:00 p.m. for Time for the Blues, because we’ve got the kind of blues that will get you through the stressful times and maybe put a smile on your face and make you want to wiggle on the dance floor! (If you don’t have a dance floor, then wiggle in the kitchen a little bit...)  And if you miss us this week, then be sure to catch us again on Christmas Night at 9:00 – more on that later!

Son Seals and More Hart & Bonamassa!

Make sure you join us this week (12/6/14) on Time for fhe Blues as Henry Cook and I heat up the late night with some very cool blues. We’ve got all sorts of temptations and it’s the perfect time to indulge. After all, no one’s watching!

It was ten years ago this month that the world lost one of its best bluesmen, the legendary Son Seals. Seals was the epitome of cool and would often show up unannounced at clubs. You could feel the whispers that maybe tonight the man with the black body guitar would be here to set the club on fire.
