Hello Paul,
My name is Bobbie Barajas and I'm the music director for WCVE Public Radio.
You listed the date you heard the music as Wednesday, July 11 but I'm going to guess that perhaps you meant Wednesday, July 20th since you wrote to us on the 20th. If that is the case the piece in question was indeed performed by the Richmond Symphony Chorus. You heard "Selig sind die Toten" from the Sacred Choral Music of Heinrich Schutz. Below is a link to yesterday's playlist.

The Richmond Symphony and Chorus do not make their recordings commercially available but below is a link to a recording available for purchase.

If you ever have questions about music heard on air you can call the studio at 804-345-8890. You can write to me directly at bbarajas@ideastations.org. You can also call my office direct at 804-560-8176.
Enjoy your stay in Richmond!
Bobbie
Thanks for your helpful reply Bobbie. Too bad the Ric Sym & Chorus can't make their recordings available. That was a wonderful piece that you aired on July 20th (yes, that was the day, 7/20/11).
We were annual subscribers to the symphony when we lived here (1970-85). BTW, can you tell me where Jacque Houtman (sp?) is now? We enjoyed watching him watching him conduct and grow the symphony back in those days. There are many fond memories of attending his first appearance here (and loved his classy, trademark season-opening back-to-back performances of the US and French national anthems).
Cheers,
Paul & Marilyn Phibbs
I listened to a wonderful recording at about 11:10 this morning, Wed. 7/11, by the Richmond Sym & Chorus (I think). I've tried to find info on that recording, including its availability, both on your website and on that of the Richmond Sym. I can't find the schedule of your program this a.m. - and I can't find a way to communicate with you. I've encountered the same problem looking at the website - no info on recordings and little help by a person I spoke with in the symphony office.
I would like to learn the details of the piece of music I heard this a.m. Can anyone provide any help?
Thanks,
Paul (visiting in Richmond for couple more days)
