Women Candidates Win Big in Democratic Primary

Last night (6/12/18) Democrats elected 5 female candidates for House seats they hope to pick up in November.

In the Chesterfield and Henrico, anchored 7th district nominated Abigail Spanberger, an ex CIA officer to challenge Republican Congressman Dave Brat. “This campaign is by for and of those who are willing to put in the time, the energy, the passion, because Democracy is not a spectator sport and together we are standing up for what is right,” said Spanberger.

State Senator Jennifer Wexton will challenge sitting Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock in the Northern Virginia based 10th district.

In the Hampton Roads based 2nd District, Elaine Luria will seek the seat currently held by Republican Congressman Scott Taylor.

Vangie Williams will challenge sitting Republican Senator Rob Wittman in the Northern Neck anchored 1st District.

Jennifer Lewis will face Republican Delegate Ben Cline in the 6th district.
