The National Weather Service is now predicting up to one or two inches of snow in the Richmond area late Friday and into Saturday. Not enough to cause problems, but the Virginia Department of Transportation is ready for Winter’s worst, whenever it comes.
VDOT is prepared once again to combat wintry weather along 19 thousand miles of roadway in Central Virginia.
Spokesperson Bethanie Glover said, “The Richmond District has over 52 thousand tons of salt, 23 thousand tons of sand and 217 thousand gallons of brine solution ready for when Winter storms come our way. We also have approximately 12 hundred pieces of snow-clearing equipment on standby.”
What is new and better this year, she says is the 511 App which has more traffic cameras and more ways to check traffic conditions before you go.
