The American Society of Healthcare Engineering is recognizing VCU Health in San Diego today with its Vista Award for the complete renovation of its Department of Emergency Medicine.
In 2014 VCU began the first renovation of its 67,000 square foot Emergency Room since the 80s. It was a cooperative effort.
Robert Reardon is Chief Facilities officer for VCU Health. He noted that during the entire time the only Level 1 Trauma ER in the area was open for business treating more than 98,000 patients a year, 4,000 of them trauma patients.
