Virginia’s Senior U.S. Senator Mark Warner is responding to news of President Donald Trump revealing sensitive information in a meeting with Russian officials last week. The news of Trump’s disclosure of highly classified information was first reported by the Washington Post.
Senator Warner told a gaggle of reporters Tuesday morning (5/16) that, at first blush, the President and his administration seem to be contradicting themselves. “You had members of the administration rushing out last night and denying its veracity, and then it appears, at least a layman’s reading of the President’s tweets this morning, indicates that maybe it is true,” said Warner.
According to the Washington Post, national security adviser H.R. McMaster refused to confirm whether the President disclosed highly classified information. McMaster did insist the President did not compromise any sources or methods in his conversation.
