Petersburg has named a new Director of Public Works. Tangela Innis will take over the department on September 2nd overseeing an $8 million dollar budget.
City Manager Aretha Ferrell-Benavides said believes Innis’ oversight of Public Works spending is critical in addressing many of the department’s budgetary issues.
"My vision for the city is to be more business minded. I believe Miss Innis’ administrative and procurement expertise bring the dynamics we need to transform the Department of Public Works into a more robust operation."
Innis, the city’s Operations, Budget and Purchasing Manager since last year, holds a master’s degree in public administration.
"I’m really honored that the city manager has provided me with this opportunity to take on this new challenge. I’ve managed multi million dollar procurements and budgets and feel really prepared for this next chapter in my career."
