New Poll Shows Richmond Residents See Race Relations As Problematic

A new poll from VCU’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs shows residents in the Richmond-Metro area see race-relations as problematic.

Robyn McDougle is an associate professor of criminal justice at the Wilder School, she says they surveyed 800 adults throughout Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover counties and examined topics including race, society and policing.

The poll was conducted between March and April following national incidents in Baltimore, Ferguson and Cleveland. McDougle says that 57% of those surveyed also indicated that police in their own communities do a good job when it comes to race-relations in the area where they live.
