Nearly 25 years ago, acclaimed dancer Pierre Dulaine started a program in New York to teach fifth graders ballroom dancing. The Dancing Classrooms initiative spawned three films and spread around the world including to Greater Richmond.
In both the Spring and Fall semesters, students at 12 schools spend 10 weeks learning 10 dances. The curriculum is designed to complement academic goals, while also fostering teamwork, confidence, respect and understanding cultural differences. 88.9 WCVE’s Catherine Komp has more for Learning Curve.
