With five days left before voters head to the polls, the Libertarian candidate for Governor is hoping to appeal to Virginians turned off by major-party negativity. Cliff Hyra wants his opponents to stop running their attack ads.
At the State Capitol grounds Thursday, Cliff Hyra said he's watched in dismay as Democrat Ralph Northam and Republican Ed Gillespie have vilified one another through ads and embellished rhetoric.
"What is politics coming to? What is our society coming to? When two candidates for statewde office spend millions of dollars accusing their opponents of sympathizing with violent street gangs, pedophiles, white nationalists, neo-nazis and of harboring supporters who want to run over our children."
Campaign finance documents show Cliff Hyra receiving a little over 11-thousand dollars during the October finance filing period. He says is hoping to achieve ten percent of votes cast and give the Libertarian Party "major party status."
