Henrico Supervisor Courtney Lynch Says She Will Step Down June 30th

Henrico Brookland Supervisor Courtney Lynch says she will resign as of June 30th.

Courtney Lynch upset the balance on the board from Republican to Democrat when she was elected in the fall, and went on to fight with fellow board members and the school board over teacher salaries.

“I cannot support this budget because we have not moved on teacher pay, we have not moved on school reform,” said Lynch.

She was the lone dissenter on the county budget, but went on to complain about transparency in the process and outdated pay models. She submitted her letter of resignation to Board Chairman Frank Thornton, dated June 12th.

She texted the Richmond Times-Dispatch that, “My peers seem to be much more focused on not rocking the boat and getting re-elected.” And so far, has said little else.

The board in the past has appointed an interim supervisor until a special election to fill the seat can be held according to state code.
