The Henrico County Board of Supervisors and the School Board are meeting today (4/16), in a rare, 11th hour discussion about the school budget.
There have been disagreements. The Supervisors have already reviewed a proposed county budget that includes everything the school board asked for and plan a final vote next Tuesday.
But freshman Supervisor Courtney Lynch, among others, wants another $4.3 million for teachers pay increases. I asked Deputy County Manger Brandon Hinton if it were too late for any changes. “Certainly if the board wishes to amend the budget at any point, either up or down frankly, they certainly have that opportunity to do so, on April 24th,” said Hinton.
So in theory, tonight’s meeting could result in changes, though it is being described as a “simple conversation,” between the two boards, with no public comment.
