A Sergeant at Fort Lee showed up with a gun at the Army's Combined Arms Support Command yesterday. She took her own life.
The post was locked down and negotiators began to try talk to the Sergeant, who was described as “enraged.” In fact, they thought they had talked her down, and then there was a shot.
She had barricaded herself into a third floor office and turned the gun on herself and died later at the VCU Medical Center.
The Army said the gun she used was not her service weapon. They did not identify her, but did say she was a Sergeant First Class and had been in the Army for 14 years, the last three at Fort Lee.
