Faster Broadband Comes to Southern Virginia

In line with the timetable set when it was given a federal grant for internet connectivity, Buggs Island Telephone Cooperative has introduced its new wireless broadband services. Customers in Amelia, Brunswick, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, and Nottoway counties will be able to get 4G LTE services Buggs Island Telephone calls “Bonfire.” The service is available now for some people, new towers are going up and by the middle of next month more rural homes will be able to sign on too.

A plan approved by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration set September 30th as BIT connection date to provide fast speeds, affordable prices, no data caps or overage fees, and personal local customer service. BIT says “Bonfire” offers three download speeds for homes and up 10 megabytes per second for businesses.
