Dominion Energy is working on a number of projects that will increase the use of solar energy. They’ll file program options next year with the state corporation commission.
Dominion’s Daisy Pridgen outlined what they call the “Community Solar Pilot Program.” It does not require investing in pricey solar generating equipment. “Customers will be able to purchase energy from new solar facilities that will be installed right in their own communities. Some folks who live in apartments or businesses may not have the roof top space for solar panels. This program will enable them to support solar generation.”
Dominion also plans to include a 100% renewable energy option for 100% of the time for residential and small commercial and industrial customers to make it possible for business customers to buy renewable generation equal to a specific portion of their energy use.
