Virginia 7th District Republican Congressman Dave Brat says Democrats nationalized Tuesday’s election in the Commonwealth. Republicans, he said, failed to do that and it hurt them.
Brat told 88.9 WCVE his party ran on good, rational state level policy but, “The number one issue was health care and people are getting 40% increases from Obamacare and we have not explained that to the voters.”
In addition, he said, two thirds of Virginia voters said they thought the economy was doing well. “Last year it grew at zero point six per cent and then the Democrats raised taxes by $10 trillion in their tax plan and we have a tax cut proposal. If we would have run on those things, I think we would have done a lot better instead of focusing on the state and local but, you know, it’s easy to be a Monday morning quarterback.”
