There was a big turnout for a community meeting Tuesday night to ask questions about the Essex County school system. More than 70 people were at the First Baptist Church in Tappahannock. They expressed concerns about, among other things, transportation policy, high employee turnover, teachers moving from school to school, and communication between teachers and the school administration. According to the Northern Neck News, others commented on classroom behavior and allegations of the bullying of both students and teachers. When it came up, School Board members at the meeting said School Superintendent Scott Burckbuchler did not get a $30,000. pay hike. Speakers say they’ll be out in force at Monday night’s Essex County School Board meeting.
