Authorities Confirm Identities of Balloon Crash Victims

Authorities have officially confirmed the identities of the three people who died in a hot air balloon crash in Caroline County Friday. State police released what they say was their final report on the accident, confirming names of the victims. They say the Chief Medical Examiner has positively identified them as 65-year old Daniel T. Kirk of Hartley, Deleware, the pilot, and 24-year old natalie M. Lewis of Richmond and 44-year old “Ginny” T. Doyle of Glen Allen, both passengers.

Last night, the Doyle family released a statement that said in part, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic event and loss of Ginny…she was a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, athlete, team mate, coach, teacher, colleague, friend and story teller. She was a formidable player that will always be remembered for her NCAA free-throwing shooting record which lead to national recognition and her nickname, ‘Deadeye Doyle.’ She will be greatly missed and holds a special place in all our hearts.”
