Assembly 2014: Virginia House Expected to Reject Medicaid Expansion

In a surprise move, the  Virginia House of Delegates will debate the Senate’s private insurance alternative to Medicaid expansion today. The House and Senate will consider their budget bills today.  In order to quantify House opposition to the Senate plan, House Appropriations Chairman Chris Jones has inserted it as an amendment for debate and then a vote. This comes a day after the multi-organization health care advocacy group -- The HAV Coalition -- announced that the Commonwealth has rejected over a quarter of a billion dollars since January 1st of this year by not taking the federal Medicaid expansion dollars.
