Seventh District Republican Congressman Dave Brat held another town hall meeting in Chesterfield last night (5/9), talking about Trump, health care and the budget.
It began outside, with a largely Democratic crowd that brought the clatter inside for a 90 minute session of questions and answers, punctuated by boos.
Brat said, “Everyone says have more town halls, but then you come to the town hall and can’t have a rational dialogue.”
Inside, he dodged questions about President Trump’s firing of FBI Director Jim Comey but defended his reasons for voting with his party for the American Health Care Act that would repeal major parts of Obamacare. Brat said, “I voted against the first pass because I thought the process was too closed and there wasn’t enough moves on price reduction. So when we opened the door a little bit on price reduction, we’re all listening to the people to see how we can make this a win, win.”
It was Brat’s second town hall meeting of the year.
